"living fantasy of the immortal/the reality of an animal" -Stereolab

"The secret and blatant fears of life's impermanence keep humanity praying, wishing, and entertaining the ideas of forever. These ideologies elicit ideas of perfection and the practice of obsessive preservation.

Featuring the work of artists from Orlando, New York, and Hong Kong. Each was asked to respond to the concept of impermanence, its relation to their individual practices, and its seemingly negative connotations in our society. Shame, desire, and denial were initial feelings and ideas that emerged, then the states of reality and fantasy.

Bringing exaggerated attention to the ideas of things considered permanent, unsightly decomposition, beauty, the ephemeral, the non-archival, and the act of obsession, the artists have created conceptual works in the forms of video, performance, interactive 2d design, sculpture, and drawings." -Vanessa Barros Andrade
